Cardinals vs. Jets
Carson Palmer participated in practice this week after going through concussion protocol. The Cardinals face the Jets this week and both teams are looking for a win after enduring a terrible start to their seasons. Ryan Fitzgerald, after signing a one year contract with the Jets has yet to prove his ability not only putting points on the board but to be a leader for the Jets team. With a Monday night game, both teams have had an opportunity for rest. Larry Fitzgerald is the Cardinals main weapon whether he’s making an incredible catch or throwing up a block to create a hole. Hopefully Palmer will be 100% and get the Cardinals back on track. The Jets defense hasn’t done much and their offense is not much better. It may be a blowout but its always great to watch Fitzgerald making plays.
Patriots vs. Bengals
With Tom Brady’s return last week after a four game suspension, it was highly anticipated that Brady was going to crush it. He did. The unexpected performance came from Martellus Bennett in which Bennett garnered three touch downs with minimal rushing yards. Any Fantasy owners of Bennett were pleasantly surprised as Bennett surpassed Gronkowski as Brady’s golden boy. The Patriots are without a doubt the more refined team against Cincinatti. Andy Dalton has had challenges with his offensive line and even with A.J. Green looking good, don’t look to the Bengals to hand the Patriots their second loss of the season.
Panthers vs. Saints
Cam Newton participated in practice this week after going through concussion protocol. Will Newton be ready for New Orleans? He may play but Newton won’t be 100%. John Stewart RB for Carolina also participated in practice this week after being absent the last three games with a hamstring injury. Carolina has their worst starting record since I can’t remember when. Greg Olsen has been the work horse with Newton being out but this is a must win for Carolina. Drew Brees….well it’s Drew Brees. The man puts up numbers. Brees passes more than the Saints rush, that’s why Brees puts up good numbers. With Newton and Stewart playing at less the 100%, the Panthers are going to have to find their rhythm and quick. The Saints may have more weaponry in their arsenal against the Panthers.
Steelers vs. Dolphins
Big Ben Roethlisberger has had a great start and the Steelers are looking good this season. With Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and a cast of others, Pittsburgh will undoubtedly crush the Dolphins. The Dolphins have only one win on the books. Tannehill is a decent quarterback, he just doesn’t have a team to work with. Great expectations in Arian Foster and DeVante Parker with little result. Parker has had some production but not the break out Miami was hoping for. For some reason the talent is there for the Dolphins, they just haven’t figured it out yet. The Steelers have it more than figured out and will come to Miami to eat some fish!
Broncos vs. Chargers
Fortunately for Denver this team has a system in place which allows the offense to continue to do well even with a not so good quarterback. Trevor Siemian is said to be ready against San Diego. Denver said his non throwing shoulder is good but if the Chargers defense can tap that weakness, this could be a game. With Thomas, Sanders and Anderson, the Broncos have done well so far. Add the Broncos defense and even without Peyton Manning and a decent quarterback they keep winning. Philip Rivers has always put up consistent fantasy numbers. If Rivers had more depth in his offensive line, he probably would have several Super Bowl rings by now. But that is not the case. Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead seem to be his main weapons. Rivers has some depth with Williams, Benjamin and Henry. Hopefully Rivers can get some protection against the Broncos defense. If he doesn’t, Rivers will endure four painful quarters of sack attacks.
Jaguars vs. Chicago
Since Cutler has been out with a bruised thumb, Brian Hoyer has stepped in and stepped up. The Bears looked good last week against the Colts and they face the Jaguars this week. Although the Bears fell to the Colts it wasn’t by much. Alshon Jeffery has been disappointing this season without much targets. Hoyer has seemed to like Royal, Langford and Howard. Hopefully Cutlers thumb takes a long time to heal. Blake Bortles has only achieved one win this season for the Jaguars. Hearns should be back up to speed and the Jaguars don’t lose by a lot, they just lose. If the Jaguars could find their sweet spot. The Jags schedule hasn’t been an easy one and this match up with the Bears should be a good one as this may be the most level playing field game this week.
Rams vs. Lions
The L.A. Rams have been surprisingly winning. Maybe they should have moved back to L.A. sooner. Case Keenum, the Rams quarterback has a good start to the season. Surprisingly Keenum doesn’t have a specific target, Keenum utilizes everyone. I believe this is where the Rams have found their success. Although Gurley is one of the top running backs in the league, Keenum passes out the work to Austin and Quick and is making plays because of it. But the Rams face the Lions this week and this could be ugly. Matt Stafford is seemingly healthy and so id his offensive line. Riddick has stepped up with Marvin Jones and Anquan Boldin. The Lions are 2-3 and the Rams 3-2. A win for either team could shift momentum. This game should be a thriller to watch.
49ers vs Buffalo
Interestingly enough, Chip Kelly has decided that its time for Kaepernick to get in the game. Its obvious with Gabberts ineffectiveness Kelly would put Kaepernick in. Kelly is relying heavily on a quarterback who hasn’t seen action since when? Its hard to understand why Kelly puts the blame on Gabbert when the 49ers whole offensive line is well, offensive. Their defense isn’t much to speak about either. Buffalo has somehow got their act together after what we thought may have been a bust season. Even with Sammy Watkins injured, the Bills are coming together as a team and they are winning games. They may not only be saving their season, the Bills are probably saving Ryan’s job. The Bills will definitely take advantage of Kaepernicks return and stampede the 49ers.
Ravens vs. Giants
Well neither of these teams have had a break out season. With Flacco and Manning at the helm of these two teams, this game will be a shootout. Eli hasn’t performed well and it could be a residing bitterness about former coach Tom Coughlin abruptly leaving the team. It has left Manning a little off kilter. Sadly for most fantasy owners, Odell Beckham II has not performed, period. Look for that to change this Sunday as Odell is tired of fighting the kicking nets. The Ravens offense is weak and Flacco can’t seem to get any help. Steven Smith may be out for Sundays game so this could be the Giants chance to get one in the win column. For you owners of Beckham, play him. This is no time to sit him. This could be a blowout but the Giants could use it to regain their confidence.
Browns vs. Titans
The Browns are still win less this season, It is not foreseeable that they will beat the Titans. The Titans have been playing well and Marcus Mariota has been more than pulling his weight. With all the young talent around him, Mariota is in a good spot. The Titans looked good last week and with some momentum and a Browns shaky defense, the Titans should take them down easily. Besides the fact of good play on the side of the Titans, the Browns can’t seem to catch a break. They put their hopes in Robert Griffin III and seemingly those hopes were dashed with a pre season injury which put RG III out for the season. Now Cody Kessler is out and it is unclear who the Browns will start at the quarterback position in week 6. I have a lot of respect for head coach Hue Jackson. The Browns have serious injury problems but Jackson says he won’t make excuses. Hold your head up Hue, Cleveland is counting on you for at least one win.
Eagles vs. Redskins
This is always a good rivalry game. This particular game however is going to be battle. With Carson Wentz up against Kirk Cousins, look to be entertained. Both teams have shown great stamina against worthy opponents. Both teams have great offensive weapons. The Eagles have Jordan Matthews crushing it this season and Washington has DeSean Jackson (a former Eagle mind you.) Washington’s Jordan Reed has been going through concussion protocol this week as he showed symptoms at Tuesdays practice. Grueden will more than likely take no chances but with Reeds incredible receiving at TE, definitely a top 3, not having Reed in the mix could throw Cousins off. The Redskins defense looks pretty solid and the Redskins have forced at least one fumble each game thus far. Carson Wentz got his first interception of his young but impressive career against the Lions. Although the Eagles lost, they did not lose by a lot. This might be my favorite match up for week 6.
Chiefs vs. Raiders
The Chiefs head to Oakland to face the Raiders where the Chiefs have always found a way to beat the Raiders at home. Don’t think that will happen this week. Oakland has finally found their rhythm and Carr is hitting on all cylinders. Oakland is coming off an incredible win against the Chargers so you can believe they are pumped up to finally take the Chiefs down on their own turf. The Chiefs starting out with a 2-2 record need a win to get their confidence back. Alex Smith has always been successful against the Raiders but it’s a new day in Oakland, the Raiders have been winning. Although the Chiefs Marcus Peters is the largest danger for Oakland, as he tops the NFL in interceptions, Peters is a hometown boy in Oakland. Not only that, there is a possibility Jamaal Charles may be on the scene and we all know Charles can be dangerous, but is he 100%? Derek Carr’s offensive line has been good at providing him time to get off a pass. This has been a great part of his success. The challenge will be with the Raiders defense and whether or not they can keep Alex Smith and the Chiefs at bay. This will be a good match up to watch.
Cowboys vs. Packers
This should be an interesting match up. While Aaron Rodgers is one of the all time greats, Dak Prescott is nothing to scoff at. Prescott is 7 passes away from Tom Brady’s record of no interceptions in a rookie start. Not only that, Prescott has Ezekiel Elliot who has been a phenomena in the Cowboys system. The likes of which the Cowboys have not seen in a long while. Dez Bryant is questionable for Sunday but they have done alright without him. Rodgers struggled last week with some bad passes and team mates dropping passes in critical plays. Eddie Lacy ended up with an ankle injury so he’s out. Randall Cobb had over 100 yards rushing and Jordy Nelson handled the touchdowns.. The Cowboys are facing the Packer defense and this may be the tell tale sign of Prescott’s true abilities. The Packers defense is well known for the rush and we’ll have to wait and see how the Cowboys offense as a whole can handle these seasoned veterans. One thing to know about the Cowboys: their defense is ranked 8th in the NFL. Yes 8th. This is going to be one to watch.
Falcons vs. Seahawks
The bird is the word. The Falcons boast a top ranked offense to Seattle’s top ranked defense. Russell Wilson has been nursing a sprained left knee but still performing well despite it. Jimmy Graham and Christine Michael have been key receivers for Wilson and Seattle’s offense. Seattle did hand the Jets their first lost but it wasn’t by much. The Falcons defense collected 6 sacks courtesy of Dwight Freeney. Seattle is coming off a bye week and rest may be just what the doctor ordered. Seattle will need it facing an Atlanta team who continues to pick up momentum with DeVante Freeman and Tevon Coleman tag teaming the rushing game. Julio Jones was quiet last week but never underestimate Jones. Two aggressive teams makes for one great game. This may be a low scoring game but anything can happen. Seattle is at home and we all know the power of the 12th man.
Colts vs. Texans
Although the Texans have lost two of the first five games, they still have more in the win column and are looking to add one more win against the Colts. Brock Osweiller looked rattled last week against the Vikings, understandably so. Osweiller was sacked 4 times and hit 14. Ouch. Although they face the Colts at home, the Texans should fare well against the Colts offense. J.J. Watt re-injured his back and it is unknown whether this is a season ender. The Texans have some weaponry in their defense with Mercilus and Clowney but Watt will be missed. The Texans boast a top ranked pass defense so Luck has his work cut out for him. If T.Y. Hilton can play like he did last week, Luck and the Colts may have a chance. That is if the Colts offensive line can protect Luck and the defense can hold the Texans from scoring. Don’t see that happening. The Texans are looking to pad their lead in the AFC South with a win in Indy.
